I am building a new desktop with an Intel Core2 Duo processor and a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R LGA 775 MB. The "C" drive is a 160 GB Seagate SATA2. The dual layer DVD-RW is an IDE unit. I would like to reuse the two 250 GB ATA100 (IDE) hard drives from my existing P4E desktop. Problem: There is only one IDE slot left. Since there are 3 PCI slots on the MB and only 2 are expected to be used, I'm considering purchasing a PCI based UDMA/ATA100 controller which would provide an additional 2 slots. Does anyone have experience with this type of device, and if yes, would you recommend this solution to my available UDMA slots problem? The OS will be WinXP Pro SP2. |
