Trouble with saving streaming video

My problem is that SUPER will encode video fine, as long as it's a file already on my computer.  But, it won't save a streaming file.  Even the valid ones supplied for testing.  What happens is the progress bar starts out slow, then speeds up to completion (this takes about 20 seconds), the task window refreshes and lists the file as done.  But, there's nothing in the output folder.  I have the "Save stream as file" button checked, so that's not it.  Oddly enough, SUPER will play the videos with little or no problem.  The closest I found to working was a .asf file that kept refreshing the progress bar over and over for about 30 minutes until SUPER crashed.

How do I get SUPER to save Streaming Video?

Re: Trouble with saving streaming video

One of the test streams already vailable in the dropdown box is
rtsp://ifilm.rmod.llnwd.net/a65/o1/portal/2660147_MULTI.rm
This should work with absolutely no problem for playing and saving.
If you are not able to play and save it then some ports on your PC Firewall are
closed, and I cannot help you in it.

Re: Trouble with saving streaming video

I can play it just fine, but I can't save it. Even if I disable my Firewall.  If I couldn't do both, that would make sense, but this is just odd.

Just to make sure that we are not missing any detail:
you are certainly checking the Save Stream To your HardDisk box
then you click on Encode/Save button (Not the Play button)
and then ? what are you getting? please give precise details..

Re: Trouble with saving streaming video

I have SUPER set to encode to iPOD files using the H.264/AVC codec and the AAC audio codec.  I select the ifilm stream that you suggested (rtsp://ifilm.rmod.llnwd.net/a65/o1/portal/2660147_MULTI.rm) and the "Save Stream to your Hard Disk" box is checked.  The Active file window is checked next to the stream address in the task window.  I press the Encode|Save button and the progress bar says "Conecting to Stream Media Buffering" then "now saving stream 1/1:" where it used to say "Drop a Valid...".  The yellow bar grows to the right within the center part of the grey bars at a rate of about 1 tic/sec. until it fills it up twice.  Then SUPER refreshes and the "Drop a valid Multimedia File..." notice comes back.  The stream address now says "done" under "output status".  I check the output folder and nothing has been saved there (I double checked that I selected the correct output folder".

Am I missing something?

Re: Trouble with saving streaming video

The saved file is NOT yet encoded, it is only saved as it is.
Saved streams are named after the hosting server. A stream called
"mms://server1.topdownload.com/video/top10.wmv"
will be saved as "server1.topdownload.com.wmv" and will be located in the selected
saving folder like all other saved files.

Please look again in your saving folder, or better, create a new folder directly
on the root of your disk like C:\new\ and save in it.
This way you'll find immediately the saved file.

Re: Trouble with saving streaming video

Nothing shows up in the output folder at all, which is pretty much empty so I'd notice a new file there.  I encoded a file (FLV to MP4) on my computer to make sure everything is working fine and the MP4 file showed up in the folder as expected.

Would you please try to create a new folder on the root, as I suggested earlier, and
call it C:\new for saving the streams in it.
If despite this you still can't save your stream, I have no clue on how to help you!

That works.smiley-clapping  Thank you very much.  I have no idea why that should make a difference and don't really care right now, but you've been very helpful.smiley-worthy

Edited to add:  You can expect a nice donation to SUPER shortly

Re: Trouble with saving streaming video

I have a similar problem with slightly different symptoms.

First of all, I am able to get some results. I am able to save streaming video.

The problem is that I can only seem to save a minute and a half or so. The stream is over ninety minutes long. I am on a high-speed connection and have no problems watching the stream in realplayer.

There is enough room on my HDD to save the file, and I can see no reason why the program might stop.

Any suggestions?

Much appreciated.

Otherwise, fabulous software.
