converting mov (aac) file that only contains music

Hey there, I am a beginner with Super and this is my first post so I will try not to sound too dumb.

Has anyone successfully converted the mov files from Pandora into mp3's?  I've tried it on three different xp machines (one of them has sp2 and the others are sp3) and every single one of them behaves the same way:

It looks good starting out; saying “NOW ENCODING FILE 1/2”and “Parsing Input” (though sometimes this msg doesn’t show).
Then, after pausing at “Output Set Up” for a few seconds, it gives “ERROR!” as the ‘Output Status’.  It sounds like some kind of disc error but all 3 computer have more than ample space and there are no permissions issues.

On top of that, SUPER CAN PLAY the file just fine (so I know it can 'understand' it).  But when I press Encode, it behaves as describe above.

I’ve tried with and without DirectShow Decode on.  I’ve also tried a few of the other output containers (other than mp3)…

When I click on the "An ERROR has occurred. Click to read more..." (towards the bottom) a window pops up titled "Possible Causes Of Encoding Failure" which talks about checking DirectShow, pixel sizes, headers, codecs and other possible causes.

Re: converting mov (aac) file that only contains music

I'm having the exact same problem.  I download files through Orbit downloader from Pandora.  They download as .mov files that have no video.  I have tried every converter I can find to change them to mp3s or some normal audio format.  The files play perfectly in VLC, and they play perfectly in Super (listening only).  I cannot get them to convert at all.  See the link below to download one.  If anyone could get this working, I would be soo grateful.

Please help!

Re: converting mov (aac) file that only contains music

Thanks for the tip.  I appreciate it.  I renamed it to .mp4 and nothing has changed.  Media player still can't play it, and VLC and Super still can.  I still can't seem to get it to convert to mp3.  Should .mp4 be easier to convert?

it DOES NOT have a .mov (quicktime) header, it is simply an AAC file, therefore
we changed the extension to AAC and encode it successfully to mp3, mpc, ac3 etc..

Thank you for the analysis.  I will give this a shot as soon as I get home.

*I just noticed that you used free analysis software.  Thanks for the link.

It is already integrated in SUPER(C), DoubleClick on any file in the job-list, the MediaAnalysisBox opens
and displays all internal file details.
