3 Things:

1. I've been using build 23 off and on but noticed the new build and installed it. The AVC video is horrible on the new build because it only deinterlaced where ever there was reduced motion so I uninstalled it and re-installed build 23 but, now SUPER opens and closes in about one second (the only way to see it is in the task manager). What did the new version modify that's crashing the old one? How do I fix it?
EDIT: I fixed this issue myself by manually removing files left behind by the Uninstall (in System32).

2. I've just learned "Video Scale Size" must be divisible by 16, question: why not 8?

3. Nearly all video is padded at the top and bottom. I've gone into the "Crop / Pad" option, enabled it and reduced it to zero (which worked on the first installation) I've ran tests, disabled it, ran tests, tried different Video Scale Sizes (even at 640 x 480), specified the aspect ratio as 4:3 but all fail and the black bars persist. The only work-around I've found is to "Stretch it" but isn't that going to cause much more work? It doesn't seem right, any thoughts?

Now before someone posts a generic question like "Are you sure your computer is fast enough" or "did you uninstall it properly" (you get the idea), I have over 25 years of computer building and operating experience on many different platforms so please be polite and only reply with specific, detailed and concise information.

Thanks in advance

We ahave absolutely no means to install and test obsolete versions
we are currently running v2008.build.32 (July, 8 2008)

SUPER(C) is a simple GUI, the authors of FFmpeg, MEncoder or x264 may better answer to this question

640:480 at 4:3 ratio is the canvas size, while the frame/photo inside the canvas can
be 640:272 which isn't at all 4:3
the aspect ratio ALWAYS refers to the canvas size NOT the frame/picture

If I may repeat: I started with build 23, discovered the latest build (32) -Installed it- hated it. Reinstall 23 but 23 wouldn't work, so I played search and destroy (re-installed build.32 and used the information in the SUPER/setup.ini file). Hence v2008.build.32 (July, 8 2008) is the problem because after removing the orphaned files, build 23 works again. <hurray>.

I am somewhat new to video editing (as question 2 points out) but I did say I am not new to computers: I was smart enough to check the input file ratio: The input files were 4:3 ratio, created by Vegas Video, and verified by other programs including VLC.

It was all in the details. Thanks anyways.

Have a good day.
