Confused about aspect ratio of WMV

First, an 'admin' problem that's frustrating me!

The erightsoft web site says:
"If you have any comments or questions about our software programs, please forward them to technical support support@remove-this.eRightSoft.com "

But I keep getting an 'Undelivered mail' response, with a message 'Access not allowed' What is the cause and how do I fix it please?

Anyway, here is what I was trying to send, in the hope that someone here can help please.

---------
I'm a registered user of SUPER v2007.build.2

I've spent many hours trying to encode some MPEGs to WMV without success. Whatever combination of settings I've tried so far, I always get a result which is distorted inwards. IOW, the aspect ratio is not correct.

I have made a small test file Test-MPEG.mpg, about 4 MB. This was made by extracting a section from a DVD file with VideoRedo. It plays correctly in various players, i.e. without distortion. I've uploaded it here: http://www.speedyshare.com/930539532.html

But after conversion to WMV with SUPER, it is squashed inward. I assume this is somehow due to its being a DVD-compliant file, 720 x 576? I would appreciate advice on how I should set SUPER to convert such files correctly please, so that others can play the result properly.

Best wishes,

Sorry for the mis-understanding.
We  shall rectify the message to read Our ShareWare programs instead of our software programs

Please read the related note displayed on the download page just underneath the
download link.

select any video size or aspect ratio of your choice instead of keeping
the VideoScaleSize on "NoChange"

Re: Confused about aspect ratio of WMV

OK, thanks, I'll try that on my next conversion. I guess I made the mistake (not for the first time) of forgetting that 'DVD-compliant' files are a special case - but not to all programs!

In particular, not to SUPER, which presumably regards them at their face value, i.e. just plain 720 x 576 files. I was thinking 'No change' meant it wouldn't change the way it played. But from your reply above I now suppose it really means it won't change the file's dimensions. As the output is a WMV, it can't preserve the 'DVD-compliant' charactersistics like DAR, SAR and PAR. Yes?

In theory, am I right that it would be possible for a conversion/encoding program to recognise a DVD-compliant input MPEG and take steps to ensure that a WMV output was resized apropriately?

But what still puzzles me is how you can have a setting 'No change' and still specify a certain AR. Why aren't these mutually exclusive?

BTW, I now see my posts. Very odd, because (after several refreshes), a few minutes ago I did not. So please ignore my last post about them!

Anyone with any thoughts on my remaining questions please?
