rotating my mp4 video clips

have noticed that you can rotate a video clip and preview it before encoding, however
when encoding is done it doesn't stay that way. can anyone help.
my vids are mp4- conforms to iso-standard mpeg-4 avc/h.264.
i can't find anything that will rotate them. tried to change file and rotate it on
windows movie maker but resolution is very poor.

new at all this so thanks in advance for any help and sorry for asking a newbie question.

Re: rotating my mp4 video clips

if your PC has the appropriate MP4[H.264] ActiveX DirectShow filter installed then:
click on the D tiny switch (DirectShow Decode), then select rotate..

Re: rotating my mp4 video clips

thanks 96crypt-mod.  appreciate the advice but unfortunately i am a newbie at all
this. could i ask, how do i find out if i have the correct MP4[H.264] ActiveX DirectShow filter installed on my pc?

i have the k lite codec pack, xvid pack and thought that would be enough or am i just completely wrong. i also downloaded aac direct show filter and ffdshow as a pure guess.

thanks in advance and apologies for my ignorance. ta

if the MP4[H.264] input file is playable on your Windows Media Player then you have
an ActiveX DirectShow filter installed on your PC for this type of MP4 files.

Re: rotating my mp4 video clips

ok. i have played all my files on windows media player with no probs but when i try
what you suggested with the little "D"  it still won't rotate.
i downloaded km player as all i had on my pc was windows. now when i select the"D"
and try to flip the file it works, but now with no sound.

i want to keep it as mp4 so i leave output container as mp4, output video codec is
set at h.234/avc, and the output audio codec gives me 3 choices of aac or amr narrow
or wide. it changes the image round like i want but now there is no sound. my own
lack of tech knowledge is making me pull my hair out. can anyone tell me what
i'm now doing wrong.

ps. when i select "player options" the side box opens but says "may not be supported".
how do i get it to work? it has an option to rotate but nothing happens when i try it
thank you, thank you, thank you.....
