PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
I am trying to convert mp4 files from a Nokia N95 to avi format encoded with XviD.
Please note this problem is not specific to this file but any mp4 file I try. It even does exactly same thing if I change the codec to DivX.
Super(C) creates a file which is 3 7999 0002 Bytes. When I play it in Windows Media Player there is only audio. What is strange is that I encoded the same file with exactly the same settings yesterday and it was fine. I've tried reinstalling Super(C) and also unchecking 'Use DirectShow'.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks!

1.Avoid selecting Use Directshow when dealing with those input formats that
aren't Windows(R) native. (MOV, MP4, 3GP, MKV, RM(VB).. unless you have the
appropriate ActiveX decoder/splitter filter)
2.(even better for this file type) Select MEncoder instead of ffmpeg

This fixed it!
Many thanks for your help and an amazing piece of software.

Hi can you help me, I want to do exactly the opposite. I got a Nokia N95 phone which plays mp4's. I want to convert .avi's to mp4. I have no previous experience on converting files or what all these settings mean. Can someone provide me with some standard settings which I could use or even better, some specific settings that would work better on my phone. These are the settting of the .avi file I'm trying to convert:

drag & drop the AVI file in SUPER(C)
select 3gp (Nokia/NEC/Siemens) as output container
leave everything else on default
uncheck DirectShow Decode
Hit encode
RightClick to open the Menu, the Output File Saving Management option will show you the location of the rendered file
Offline

UnCheck "Top Quality"
Select a higher VideoBitrate.
in all cases, there is no known video encoder software that renders an output file
with better quality than input. If input quality is fair, you'll never be able to improve it.
