An ERROR has occurred while encoding. The most common possible reasons causing error:
If you did not check "Use DirectShow", you may try to check it on, as you may have a working ActiveX filter installed on your PC that could read the codecs of your input file.
If the Default "NoChange" Video Scale is selected but your imput file has its height or width not divisible by 16 then SUPER can't handle it. Choose any other pre-defined VideoScaleSize and re-encode.
Your input source file may not be a valid multimedia clip due to a damaged header, corrupted/segmented data or truncated file. Or maybe your input file has unsupported codecs. Here again, you may verify the structure of your input file by double clicking it, the Media Analysis Box opens to dispaly its info, codecs, and other internal data.
There was an interruption of the encoding process due to Disk space, Slow PC, RAM drainage, CPU overload or a simput user manual interruption. Try again.

I've tried using DirectShow or not, no difference in the end result. I've successfully converted this file to MP4. I've tried to take a stream (that super created) and encode it to WMV...same problem. Any help would be appreciated. Is there any concern that I have Windows Media Encoder installed?
Thanks in advance.

BTW, using v2007.build.22

Very likely that some important .dll MicroSoft files (at least 4) are missing from your system.
We cannot provide them because they are MicroSoft copyright.
the first one is mpg4c32.dll which links to some other DMO's..
the MSvfw32.dll may also be missing.
they are located in \windows\system32 for WinNT/Win2K/XP/Vista
or in \windows\system for Win9x, WinMe
these files are "usually" available by default on most Windows systems..

You are correct. I was missing that file. I did what this page:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window … d.aspx#6.4
told me to do, but that didn't add the file. So I went ahead and installed this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324290
And the file showed up. I don't know if doing the first step did anything for me or not, but that file didn't show up until I installed the codec from the second link. I am now happily encoding my first wmv file with Super. Thanks again.

The package in the link you mentionned contains some DirectShow ActiveX decompressors
which will allow you to play (on WMP) all ASF/WMV 7&8 files as well.
It also allows you to re-encode WMV --into-> other formats with SUPER(C) with the
"Use DirectShow" option checked.
Enable the "Show Useful Hints" with a rightclick, hover the mouse over the "Use DirectShow" box
to read some more details..

I was having the same problem.
I installed files from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324290, as noted by scottietaz,
and now I'm "happily encoding" avi to wmv as well.
Thanks scottietaz and 96crypt_mod for this information.

I am running windows Vista Home and for some reason am unable to download those codecs. I went to each site listed above and it looked like it installed, but then when i went to the system32 folder, the codec was not there. I don't know if it has anything to do w/ the fact that the codec pack is for a much earlier version of windows media player and there isn't a whole lot of support for vista yet. I even downloaded/installed a vista codec package i found browsing online(that seemed to have the codec) and still couldn't get it to work.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced this or has any suggestions...seems like a longshot.

I'm having the same issue as bkapicka, running Vista x64 and the codec installation package appeared to run but I don't have any of the files that I'm being told I should have.
Is there anything that can be done?
